Adam's Rib (Famous Players-Lasky Corporation, 1923), Pair of Prehistoric Concept Paintings by Charles R. Knight. Vintage pair of concept paintings for the extended prehistoric sequence including (1) "Leopard and Neanderthal" artwork rendered in oils and measuring 27" x 29.25" and (1) "Neanderthal Men and Cave Bear" artwork rendered in oils and measuring 27.25" x 36.25". DeMille's silent drama, written by Jeanie Macpherson, followed the exploits of an affluent family in turmoil. A parable, set in prehistoric times, was included as a satiric defense of the "flapper" movement. This pair of paintings represent very early film concept art, a facet of pre-production spearheaded by DeMille. Paintings exhibit age and production wear. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
