The Silence of the Lambs, (Orion, 1991), Ted Levine "Buffalo Bill" Exotic Moth Kimono. Original robe is stitched/quilted together from various patterned fabrics featuring butterflies, beadwork, and tassels on the sleeves, with a massive moth design stitched together on the backside. This exotic kimono is one of the most distinctive and recognizable horror film costumes of all time. This home-made robe is symbolic of serial killer "Buffalo Bill's" (Ted Levine) final transformation. In one of the film's most memorable scenes, the killer dons the costume as his victim, Catherine Martin (Brooke Smith) tries to escape the pit he has trapped her in. The scene culminates in the character tucking his genitals between his legs and recording himself dancing in front of a video camera. The costume features production wear and studio-distressing.
