Description
Beetlejuice (Warner Bros., 1988), Douglas Turner "Char Man" Reproduction Display Figure. Original reproduction of the charred black skeleton puppet constructed of foam latex, paints, and fabric scraps with a tuft of faux hair on top of his head and realistic brown glass eyes. The figure wears a watch on his left wrist and has a cigarette affixed to his right hand. Originally designed to be movable or bendable, the passage of time has caused the foam latex to stiffen, leaving the puppet in a stationary state. Measures approx. 53" x 22" x 21". In a notable scene in the film, Adam Maitland (Alec Baldwin) encounters the Char Man (Douglas Turner) in the Neitherworld waiting room. In a touch of irony, after Adam refuses a cigarette offered by the Char Man, he quips that he is also trying to cut down. Displays wear and age including some deterioration of the foam latex that can be seen where the fingers are breaking. Obtained from Robert Short, a special effects makeup artist who worked on the film and created this reproduction. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.Heritage Auctions provides as much information as possible but strongly encourages in-person inspection.
