Description

Bobby Rush 1974 Beaumont, TX Globe Concert Poster. An original cardboard window card advertising blues musician and multi-instrumentalist Bobby Rush appearing at the Joyland Club in Beaumont, Texas on Sunday night, July 21, 1974.

A nice oversized board made by the Globe Poster Company of Baltimore, MD using their trademark orange Day-Glo ink. Very tall at almost 31 inches. Great photo of Bobby bending out notes on the guitar.

The poster plugs Bobby's only Top 40 R&B hit ever, "Chicken Heads," dropping the "s" from the three-year-old hit. Mr. Rush is a respected member of the Blues Hall of Fame, Rhythm & Blues Music Hall of Fame and the Mississippi Musicians Hall of Fame. This year marks the 70th anniversary of Bobby's debut as a performing musician.

Measures 17" x 30 3/4" and grades to Very Good condition. Main issue is a whacked upper right corner resulting in edge crumpling, a three-inch crease and paper loss in the corner. The other three corners are all bumped, to a much lesser degree. There's also a two-inch 'edge flap' created (which is very tight and not loose at all) in the white margin to the left of "R" in "Rush." General toning throughout. COA from Heritage Auctions.
