Description

Bunker Family Dining Room Table, Plates, Dishes, and Cups from All in the Family (CBS TV, 1971-1979) and Archie Bunker's Place (CBS 1979-1983). Archie & Edith Bunker home dining room furnishings and decoration grouping from the critically acclaimed series, All in the Family and Archie Bunker's Place. This was ground zero for many of the most spirited social and political discussions between Archie Bunker (Carroll O'Connor), Edith Bunker (Jean Stapleton) AKA "Dingbat", Gloria Stivic (Sally Struthers) AKA "Little Girl", and Michael Stivic (Rob Reiner) AKA "Meathead". The clash that played out across this table was the same as that which played out across the country; heated discussions that emphasized the generation gap between the Greatest Generation and the Baby Boomers, that laid bare the clashes that dealt with racism, antisemitism, women's liberation, the Vietnam War, and other issues not normally articulated on network primetime television. The lot includes: (1) a heavy, round wooden dining table with scroll legs, (2) six corresponding light wood high-back dining room chairs with beige upholstered seats, (3) and a large group of coffee cups, cream pitchers, saucers, plates, and bowls from two different sets of Bunker household dishes. The table measuring 48 in. diameter and 28 in. tall. All items exhibit general wear commensurate with age and extensive production use, but remain in Very Good condition overall. All objects directly acquired from series creator, Mr. Norman Lear.
