Description

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (Paramount, 1989), Nazi Banner. Original Nazi banner made of (2) components including: (1) the banner itself, hung on a wooden dowel with red fabric. The front has the Swastika symbol with the phrase "Nat. Soz. Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, Sturmabtrilung" which translates to "National Socialist German Worker's Party, Storm Troopers." The back has the same symbol with the words "Deutschland, Erwache" which translates to "Germany, Awake." The banner measures approx. 26" x 34" and is weighed down at the bottom seam. Rope is tied around the dowel to affix the plastic sculpture atop the banner. The (1) double-sided painted, plastic sculpture holds a swastika enclosed by a wreath of oak leaves and below is a box displaying the letters "NSDAP." The sculpture measures approx. 15" x 21" x 2". On the wreath you can see the feet of the eagle that once sat on top. Seen in the famous book-burning rally scene of the film when Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) is attempting to rescue his father. He runs into Adolf Hitler (Michael Sheard) who autographs his Grail Diary. Displays production wear with dirt on the banner and chipped paint on the sculpture. The sculpture has been broken where the rope once attached on one side with the other remaining intact. Obtained from Sotheby's, June 8, 1993, Lot #509. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
