Description
Ewan McGregor "Obi-Wan Kenobi" Dueling Lightsaber from Star Wars: Episode 2 - Attack Of The Clones (TCF, 2002). As the film Star Wars: Episode 2 - Attack Of The Clones builds towards its climactic showdown between the evil "Count Dooku" (Christopher Lee) and the Jedi Order backed by a newly minted Grand Army of the Republic, "Obi-Wan Kenobi" (Ewan McGregor) is captured and his lightsaber is confiscated, never to be seen again. When Kenobi is subsequently rescued by his fellow Jedi Knights in the Geonosis Arena, he is thrown another lightsaber of simple design that he wields throughout the remainder of the film. It is with this new lightsaber that Kenobi engages "Count Dooku" (Christopher Lee), also known as "Darth Tyranus, Lord of the Sith," in a battle to potentially end the budding galactic civil war. This lightsaber prop was custom-made for Ewan McGregor to fight with during Star Wars production: Episode 2 - Attack Of The Clones and can be spotted clearly in Ewan's hands behind-the-scenes documentary footage from the filming of the final duel sequence. This is the only known example in private hands of a dueling prop lightsaber used by Ewan McGregor during filming of the second Star Wars prequel film, and according to the film's stunt coordinator, Nick Gillard, this is the exact prop that Ewan favored and chose to use throughout filming his dueling scenes with Christopher Lee and his stunt double, Kyle Rowling. When filming wrapped on the prequel Star Wars trilogy, producers gifted Nick Gillard a collection of lightsaber props as a "thank you" for his significant contribution as swordmaster and stunt coordinator across all three films. This custom "dueling" Jedi lightsaber prop comes from Nick Gillard's personal collection and includes a letter of authenticity from him.
