Description

Collection of (3) Production Props for the Withdrawn Movie Poster from Pulp Fiction (Miramax, 1994). Original collection of (3) props used for the withdrawn advance theatrical poster including (1) opened pack of Lucky Strike cigarettes, (1) "Five Sinister Characters pulp novel by Raymond Chandler, (1) "Harlot in her Heart" by Norman Bligh. The rare one sheet these props were used for was withdrawn from distribution under the threat of litigation by R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, as the Lucky Strike cigarette package in front of Uma Thurman was not approved by their manufacturer. A different image from the same photoshoot was subsequently used and the cigarette pack brand and book title was digitally changed. Includes an original 8" x 10" framed photo from the shoot, a copy of Film Comment Magazine with Thurman on the cover in a different pose with "Harlot in her Heart", Entertainment Weekly Magazine and a sealed copy of the movie on VHS. The prop novels and cigarette pack are arranged in a visually striking way in the poster, with the bold colors and typography drawing the viewer's attention. The collection comes from a pulp collector who was friends with print photographer Rick Floyd who borrowed books for the shoot with Thurman and comes with a letter of provenance. The design of the poster captures the film's retro aesthetic and the pulp fiction genre it references. Exhibiting overall age and production handling. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
