Description

Richard Corben, The Deathworld Trilogy (Nelson Doubleday, 1972), Cover Painting Original Art . Created at the height of his rise in underground and fantasy illustration, this original cover painting by Richard Corben graced the 1974 Science Fiction Book Club edition of Harry Harrison's The Deathworld Trilogy. Corben, already a cult figure for his groundbreaking work in Fantagor and Heavy Metal, channels the volatile ecosystem of the planet Pyrrus through his unmistakable blend of muscular anatomy, surreal color, and textured dimensionality. This piece marks a rare intersection between Corben's countercultural aesthetic and mainstream science fiction publishing. Rendered in acrylic on illustration board with an image area of 17" x 24.5"; matted to 21.5" x 29". Signed and dated by Corben in the lower right of the image area. In Excellent condition. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
