Description

James Brown 1994 Apollo Theatre, Harlem Jumbo Globe Concert Poster. An original, before-show large advertising poster for the Godfather of Soul, James Brown, going back to his roots and playing the famed Apollo Theatre in Harlem, New York City for five nights of shows in late summer 1994. A very handsome poster featuring Globe's trademark florescent Day-Glo coloring of bright orange. Lists 13 songs spanning his entire career, plus "Invited Guests" ranging from Michael Jackson and Bruce Springsteen to the Reverend Al Sharpton. We're sure this was quite the shindig, a point this large, compelling poster drives home. Measures 22" x 33 3/4" and grades to Very Good condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: Poster was exposed to moisture to some degree and is now dried out, but there's a waviness to the cardboard all the way through. There's a two-inch horizontal indent at both the top and bottom; at the top it's just inside the artwork, and at the bottom it's in the white margin below "Baltimore, MD." They break no color and break no cardboard, but they leave a visual mark. There's a 13-inch diagonal crease in the lower left corner area that passes through the ticket box and breaks a little black & orange along the way. There's a quarter-inch tear on the bottom edge that's down from the zip code, and barely visible. A couple of other smaller edge tears are present. All four corners a little dinged and the lower right one is roughed up on the edge.
