Description

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Michelangelo (Soft Head, with Fan Club Flyer) AFA 75+ (Playmates, 1988). The 1988 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles line kicked off a cultural phenomenon, and Michelangelo-ever the fun-loving, pizza-obsessed hero-was one of the four figures that started it all. This early "soft head" version, released on a 10-back card and complete with the Fan Club Flyer insert, represents the very first production run that launched Playmates' long-running franchise. These soft head figures were produced in limited quantities before Playmates switched to harder plastic, making them the most historically significant and collectible iterations of the line. Graded AFA 75+ EX+/NM with subgrades of C80, B75, and F85, this example ranks POP 2, 4th highest grade, with only 10 known to grade higher. The figure itself retains excellent presentation with bright coloration, and the early soft head construction remains a hallmark of the line's debut year. For collectors seeking the truest first-release versions of the Turtles, Michelangelo is essential-a figure that embodies the carefree spirit and enduring popularity of the brand. With his original Fan Club Flyer and strong grading pedigree, this early survivor stands as both a nostalgic centerpiece and a key first-wave collectible from Playmates' iconic 1988 launch.
