G.I. Joe Sky Patrol Airwave CAS 80+ (Hasbro, 1990). In 1990, Hasbro launched Sky Patrol, a sub-team that gave existing Joe molds a fresh identity with parachutes and bold new paint schemes. Airwave, the unit's communications specialist, was one of six new recruits introduced in this line, reimagining the earlier Motor Viper with updated colors, a new head, and airborne accessories. Released on a 34-back as part of Series 9, Sky Patrol figures were a highlight of the early '90s Real American Hero era, remembered for their working parachutes and retailer impact. This example has been graded CAS 80+ with subgrades of C80 B85 F85, resulting in a True Grade of 83.5. The figure and bubble present strongly, balancing well against light wear to the card. Sky Patrol remains one of the most visually distinctive Joe sub-lines, and Airwave is a key member of the squad. For collectors building out the airborne elite of 1990, this piece offers an excellent opportunity to add a high-grade survivor from one of Hasbro's most inventive late-era innovations.
