Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mondo Gecko, Rare Variant, AFA 85 NM+ ** POP 1 Highest-Grade ** (Playmates, 1990). Mondo Gecko rolled into the Turtles' 1990 lineup as the skate-punk reptile who could match Michelangelo trick-for-trick on any half-pipe. This early production sports every hallmark that variant hunters crave: the large three-panel sticker sheet, green kneepad and tail-skate, green eyebrow with contrasting blue eyelid, and the red iris/blue-pupil paint app that vanished in later runs. Graded AFA 85 NM+ with subgrades of C85 B85 F90, the lone example to reach this tier and none higher. With only one on record at this grade, the high-octane gecko becomes an unrivaled highlight for any vintage TMNT wall before he kicks-flip-tailslides into another collector's skate park.
