Description

Jean-Giraud "Moebius" - The Incal #4 Story Page 9 Original Art (Humanoids, 1985). Born from the ruins of Alejandro Jodorowsky's abandoned Dune project, The Incal birthed the Jodo-verse, where Moebius and Jodorowsky entwine cosmic myth, political intrigue, and mysticism into a singular vision of epic science fiction. This scene from "What is Above" features Greyfield, shackled and powerless before the merciless Technopriests, pleads for his life in a cold, towering chamber lined with machines, but his betrayal has already sealed his fate. Rendered in Ink over graphite with an image area of 11.5" x 15"; plexiglass-front framed to 19.25" x 23". Signed and dated by Moebius in the lower margin. Exhibits light handling. Unexamined out of frame. With Guillermo del Toro signature on back of frame. Exhibited at LACMA, MIA, and AGO as part of the Guillermo del Toro: At Home with Monsters exhibit (2016-2018). Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.

"This page showcases a complex layout by Moebius and features some of the most iconic images of the Graphic Novel. The deep black ink sections are rhythmically layered out almost as punctuation of the page. Moebius revolutionized the medium as we know it, and The Incal series may very well be one of his top three graphic narrative works." From the personal collection of Guillermo del Toro.
