Description

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (TCF, 2005), Ewan McGregor "Obi-Wan Kenobi" Bladed Dueling Lightsaber. Original lightsaber wielded by Obi-Wan Kenobi, played by Ewan McGregor, in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith. Obi-Wan uses his lightsaber during his intense battle against General Grievous and his iconic duel against Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) on the volcanic terrain of Mustafar. The lightsaber was designed exclusively for the third prequel film and has a unique design that sets it apart from Obi-Wan's previous blades. The handle is crafted of cast resin surrounding an aluminum sleeve and is composed of upper and lower sections joined together by a threaded rod extending from the base of the dueling blade. The handle has a multicolored finish, a chrome-plated emitter, and a widened neck under the emitter for improved maneuverability during action scenes. It has a simplified grip and lacks a lower control box, which is different from its predecessors. To facilitate McGregor's performance in action scenes, the prop team created several versions of the lightsaber handle that varied in complexity. The blade of the lightsaber is made of carbon fiber, a new material introduced in the third prequel film. At the lower end of the blade, there is a threaded rod, and it is protected by a clear plastic sheath to prevent injuries caused by blade chips. The carbon fiber blade allowed for realistic dueling on set, which was later replaced with a blue glow during post-production visual effects. This design is similar to Anakin Skywalker's lightsaber and transitions seamlessly to Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, where Alec Guinness portrays an older Kenobi wielding a similar prop. The lightsaber exhibits signs of wear with scuffs, scratches, and discoloration on the emitter. Prop measures 48.75" x 2" x 2".
