Description

Super Joe Commander & Helipak Power Pack (Hasbro, 1977). The short-lived Super Joe Adventure Team marked Hasbro's bold attempt to reimagine its legendary G.I. Joe line for a new sci-fi era. Shrinking the classic 12-inch format to an 8½-inch scale, Super Joe introduced futuristic heroes and battery-powered gear, bridging the gap between adventure and space fantasy. The Super Joe Commander featured his signature "Power Vest" and light-up accessories, while the Helipak Power Pack offered imaginative airborne support for missions across land, sea, and stars. Together, they represent the final evolution of Joe's 1970s journey before giving way to the action-packed '80s revival. The Super Joe Commander card shows heavy wear, including crushed edges and corners, surface abrasions, creasing, staining, and areas of lifted litho. The figure remains unused, though the rubber hands have deteriorated over time and crumbled within the bubble, which is heavily cracked, lifted, and misshapen. The Helipak box displays moderate surface and edge wear with light dents and creases; its items remain unused and factory sealed to the inner tray. The bilingual Canadian packaging adds international appeal. These late-era Super Joe releases embody the transitional spirit of Hasbro's experimentation - part adventure, part science fiction, and all innovation. For collectors, they serve as both a nostalgic finale to the vintage Joe legacy and a fascinating glimpse into the brand's creative reinvention on the eve of a new generation.
