Description
Edmund Gwenn "Kris Kringle" (7) Piece Screen-Worn Costume and Accessories from Miracle on 34th Street (TCF, 1947). Vintage original (7) piece signature character costume from the enduring holiday classic featuring the most famous movie "Santa" (Gwenn) of all time. Consisting of (1) red, crushed-velvet "Kris Kringle" jacket with white rabbit fur trim at collar, cuffs and waist retaining the internal 20th Century-Fox bias label typed "E. Gwenn 04/11/47, 3-25-1-0915", (1) false padded belly under suit retaining Western Costume Western Costume label, typed "2380-5 - Medium", (1) pair of matching long pants, (1) Santa hat, (1) wide black leather belt with brass buckle (buckle replaced), (1) pair of high black patent leather boots with ivory faux fur trim, and (1) pair of black leather gloves. Contemporary white beard, wig and cotton eyebrows, added for display. Worn by Edmund Gwenn as "Kris Kringle" and most visible in the parade scene when Santa's on his sleigh. All pieces exhibit age, production wear and some deterioration. Hat shows deterioration on lower edge of rabbit fur trimming. In vintage Very Good condition.
