Description

The Beatles Related - Stuart Sutcliffe Original Handwritten & Signed Poem matted and framed (Circa,1960's). Stuart Sutcliffe's time in the Beatles was short, but his influence, particularly on John Lennon, was enormous. Stuart was a talented painter and played the Bass guitar in the first incarnation of the Beatles. He was always uncomfortable on stage and soon left the group to pursue a career in art; not long after, he died of a brain hemorrhage at the age of just twenty two. This handwritten poem by Sutcliffe to his girlfriend Astrid Kirchner is in black ink, "Your sweet lips, your lovely eyes are the key to paradise. A guiding star is what you are... Heaven only knows what you mean to me. "Yours forever Stuart. The original recipient, Sutcliffe's girlfriend Astrid Kirchner, was an important influence in helping the fledgling Beatles formulate a "look"; she was also one of the first photographers to capture the group on film. Matted and framed with a short description and photo of Sutcliffe and Kirchner to an overall approximate size of 11" by 17". Slightly trimmed right edge and faint horizontal fold, otherwise in Fine Condition. This is a true piece of early Beatles history. We always believed that Stu really loved Astrid. This is written proof. Accompanied by a COA from PSA/DNA and a COA from Heritage Auctions.
