Bob Smith "Buffalo Bob" Iconic Western Ensemble from The Howdy Doody Show (NBC TV, 1947-1960). "Buffalo Bob" signature Western wear ensemble of a pale blue long-sleeve wool shirt with four-eyelet front closure, tan suede tie at the neck, matching fringe ornamentation along the diagonal yoke, and large distinctive buffalo application in leather, intricately stitched to appear like fur. Includes the matching blue pants with suede belt loops and fringe along the length of each leg, and a wide brown suede belt that features six oversized silver metal "Lucky Nickel" buffalo five-cent coin emblems worn by Bob Smith on the long-running children's series, The Howdy Doody Show. Accompanied by the original Eaves Costume Co. two-piece box. This ensemble was worn by actor Bob Smith on the show from early 1950 through Labor Day of 1955, when the advent of color television, and the birth of the chroma-key "blue screen" special effects process, required him to retire the suit in favor of a similar mustard-yellow ensemble. Acquired from Mr. Bob Smith. Conservation by Ms. Cara Varnell. Exhibits minor wear and toning commensurate with its age and production use, minor fringe loss, and tiny pinholes on the left breast, but remains in very good condition overall.
