Description
Official Space Patrol Rocket Lite Flashlight in Picture Box (Ray-O-Vac, 1953). Styled like the chrome nosecone of Commander Buzz Corry's Terra V, the Rocket Lite combined night-patrol utility with full-throttle pulp aesthetics. The original red rubber "igniter" tip, blue tail fins, and decals remain intact, though the lens cone shows heavier scuffing and the first hint of yellowing after seven decades in orbit. The metal body shows only mild handling rub, preserving its sleek chrome finish. Its illustrated launch tube of a box survives with vivid graphics despite seasoned battle scars: heavy edge and corner wear, lid creases and stress cracks where cadet hands once pried it open, and scattered surface scuffs that stop short of dulling the artwork's four-color brilliance. Inside, the die-cut insert still cradles the flashlight snugly. The item has not been tested and no guarantee can be made of its working condition. While untested and offered as-is, this Rocket Lite remains a textbook example of early-1950s cross-over tech-part toy, part working torch-perfect for crowning a vintage Space Patrol display or adding a glow of Golden-Age sci-fi optimism to any collection.Heritage Auctions provides as much information as possible but strongly encourages in-person inspection.
