The Apple Tree (Theater Production, 1966), Portfolio with Original Costume Design Artwork. Original portfolio measuring 26.5" x 20.25" and containing 25+ ink and/or pencil sketches by Tony Walton for the Mike Nichols' musical. This impressive collection features (10) original ink sketches mounted on cardboard/heavy paper, (9) rough pencil sketches on art paper, (5) ink sketches on vellum, and several pieces of ink-on-vellum sketch ephemera. Many of the designs contain Walton's character and scene-specific annotations. Every page features multiple character sketches captured in the artist's confident, minimalistic lines. The Apple Tree was nominated for seven Tony Awards (including one for Walton's costume designs) with star Barbara Harris winning for "Best Performance by an Actress in a Musical". Materials exhibit production and storage wear including scuffing and creasing. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
