Description
Cronos (Grupo del Toro, 1992), Precise Recreation of the Cronos "Vampire Device" Built for Guillermo del Toro from Original Production Molds. The Cronos device, made in 1536 by alchemist Uberto Fulcanelli, is a golden, egg-shaped mechanical object that grants its user eternal life, and its function drives the film's plot as various characters seek to possess it, often at great personal cost. The immortality it provides is not a gift but a curse, causing a vampiric thirst for blood. The screen used film prop disappeared following production, and director Guillermo del Toro commissioned this beautiful recreation from the original production molds. Crafted of polished golden metal with engraved decorative swirling patterns reminiscent of gothic design, pyramidal faux jewel affixed at top, and six retracted claws on the bottom. This prop, measuring 3.5" x 2.5" x 2", is static except for the hinging needle-like appendage on top and circular coiled snake activation switch that rotates. A beautiful piece embodying Guillermo del Toro's trademark blend of mechanical elegance and organic horror. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions."We made the original 'master copy' of Cronos before even the original rubber mold was created (the mold made every subsequent copy slightly smaller). This copy came from the same production molds - these have struck less than 20 copies, many of which disappeared from production, and a super-limited edition, of which this is one." From the personal collection of Guillermo del Toro.
