Description

Jefferson Airplane 1968 Shrine Auditorium, Los Angeles Concert Poster (AOR-3.66). An original first-printing psychedelic paper concert poster for the Jefferson Airplane and electric-blues harmonica player Charlie Musselwhite performing at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, CA on Friday and Saturday nights, February 23 & 24, 1968. This classic American-Indian artwork was created by well-known L.A. psych poster designer John Van Hamersveld. The image is so captivating that the Art of Rock book felt compelled to give it a full page all to itself.

Poster measures 19 ½" x 27 1/2" and grades to repaired Very Good condition. Chameleon Restoration addressed a few edge and corner issues, touching up any printing or color where necessary, mending pinholes, eradicating surface blemishes and greatly reducing any creasing it might have had. The result is a fully satisfying piece with little or no evidence of past damage. There does remain, however, one tiny, white 'tape lift' on the poster's right edge, directly over from the Indian's chest level. From the David Swartz Concert Poster Collection. COA from Heritage Auctions.
