Beatles Signed Dezo Hoffmann Original B&W Photo Obtained by Cash Box Editor Marty Ostrow in February 1964. A 10" x 8" standing "collarless suit" pose glossy photo with Dezo Hoffman's backstamp, signed in blue ballpoint by all of the lads from Liverpool near their images. This was obtained while the Beatles were in New York for their first Ed Sullivan appearance. Cash Box was not as well-known during this period as the industry leader Billboard. In order to set themselves apart, they concentrated more effort on the International music scene and generously covered the Beatles emergence in 1963, well before most American publications. In appreciation, Ostrow was invited to the Plaza Hotel to meet the band and George Martin. He took with him the Cash Box International Gold Award for "I Want to Hold Your Hand" reaching number one on his charts as well as copies of the December 28, 1963 issue with major coverage of the Beatles and other Mersey groups. This is where the Beatles signed the photo for him. They also obliged him by having Hoffmann (who was along on the trip) take photos of each of them holding the magazine.

Also included with the signed photo are six additional vintage photos as follows: (1) An 8" x 10" glossy of Ostrow, George Martin, Ira Howard (?) (Cash Box associate editor) and the Beatles proudly holding their Cash Box Gold Award. (2) A 10" x 8" B&W glossy with Ostrow, the Beatles, and several others with Paul holding a Gold Record award for "She Loves You" on Swan. (3-6) Individual 6.5" x 8.5" photos of each Beatle holding the Cash Box 1963 Review issue, all with Dezo Hoffmann backstamps. The autographed photo has three staples, tape stains at the corners, and light soiling. The signatures are a bit light, but the provenance makes it extremely desirable.
