Description

Elvis Presley Autographed Country Music Picture Album (Country Style Publications, 1955). Sensational collection of autographs, including one by a 20-year-old rising Country/Rock artist named Elvis Presley. The album displays a virtual "Who's Who" of Country Music in the mid-1950s, from up-and-comers to Country & Western royalty. It's 50 pages in all (counting the inside front and back covers), each one with at least one image (for the biggest stars of the day), up to 20 images on some pages of stars on the rise. One in the latter category was Elvis, but he had burst onto the scene so recently that he didn't even make the album display roster! The lucky fan, however, got the future King's autograph on the second page (just below an even younger and another soon-to-be teen idol Tommy Sands). Elvis' bandmates Scotty Moore and Bill Black got into the act, signing the back cover.
Amongst the many pictures and bio texts, you'll find more than 50 autographs from the likes of 1955 superstars Webb Pierce, Hank Snow, Slim Whitman, and Ernest Tubb, to some who would become superstars (Jim Reeves, Ray Price, Marty Robbins, June Carter and then-husband Carl Smith), as well as youngsters such as Sonny James and Faron Young. Other autographs of note: Chet Atkins, Jimmy Dickens, Hawkshaw Hawkins, Homer & Jethro, Grandpa Jones, Rose Maddox, George Morgan, Tex Ritter, Roy Rogers, Jean Shepherd, and T. Texas Tyler.
The book is 11" x 8.25" and in Very Good to Fine condition, with edge wear and spine stress, including a 4.25" spine split. There's also some minor staining of the outside covers, but the interior pages are quite clean. And, most importantly, there's that early autograph of Elvis! LOA Roger Epperson/PSA/DNA, R&R COA, Rick Consola COA.
