Description

The Beatles, Ed Sullivan Show Letter And Publicity Photograph (1964). Talk about an important moment in music history. The letter is typed, on "The Crown...Miami Beach" headed paper, dated February 14, 1964, addressed to "Dear Crown Guest...I am enclosing two tickets for the Dress Rehearsal of the Ed Sullivan Show...Appearing will be Mitzi Gaynor, The Beatles...and Mr Ed Sullivan." The letter gives timing and the location details and is signed by Crown President Morris Lansburgh. Measures 8.5" x 11". In Very Good condition, with two small brown stains to left edge and lower left corner. Also included is black and white publicity photograph of the Beatles suited, standing, posing with a stuffed animal, John Lennon holding a boat paddle. The reverse is annotated with various editing notes and is accompanied by a "CBS" printed label (now detached), with typed information, including: "Subject: The Beatles / Program: "The Ed Sullivan Show"...1/24/64". Measures 7" x 9". In Very Good condition, with staple holes to upper corners, the front and back with various notations, some creasing and toning. This example hits all the sweet spots for the Beatles second appearance in Miami Beach. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
