Description

Free 1970 Fire and Water Tour Frankfurt, Germany Concert Poster. An original large paper advertising poster for rock group Free, and support act Colosseum, playing two evening shows in Frankfurt, Germany on Sunday, November 15, 1970. "London Pop Scene," it proclaims at the top. Free has an Island Records logo by their name, and Colosseum likewise has a Vertigo Records logo.

This was Free's absolute apex. They still had all four original members - Paul Rodgers, Paul Kossoff, Simon Kirke and Andy Fraser. (Kossoff and Fraser would leave in 1972.) And they were touring off the highest-charting album of their career... Fire and Water, their only Top 20 album (at least in America), and their career-defining hit single from that summer, "All Right Now."

Note: Many European concert posters were "knocked off," or reproduced, at a later date to be sold in stores and such. This is an absolute pre-show first printing of this poster.

Measures 23 3/4" x 33" and grades to Very Good condition. Two vertical tears at the poster's top were repaired on the verso with now-browned cello tape, including a 6 ½" one that goes through the "D" of "London" and stops at the top of "F" in "Free." The other is 1" in the upper left corner. There's also a half-inch tear on the right edge at the top. Other surface creases, especially in the corners, and handling are present. COA from Heritage Auctions.
