Rocky VHS 1982 - VGA 80+ NM, Drawer Box, Flatback Seal, Rear 20th Century Fox Video Watermarks, 20th Century Fox Video. A few months ago we had the privilege of bringing to market the earliest and only known drawer box factory-sealed VHS copies of Rocky and Rocky II that had been sitting in a family's time capsule for nearly forty years. Days after those tapes sold for $27,500 and $12,500 two even earlier copies surfaced at a Goodwill Outlet on the East coast! They are nearly identical, save for the die-cut "VHS" window. On this earlier 1982 Drawer Box copy the die-cut wraps from the bottom left of the front cover to the spine of the tape. The earliest copies had this wraparound VHS window before it was changed to an oval only on the spine of the tape. This is currently the only known factory sealed copy of this original early Rocky variant and has received an overall grade of 80+ NM by VGA with a matching box and seal subgrade of 80.

The film was a huge success, earning critical acclaim and three Academy Awards, including Best Picture. The film launched the career of Sylvester Stallone, who wrote and starred in the film, and went on to reprise his role in six sequels. Stallone's portrayal of the underdog boxer and his determination to succeed against all odds became an iconic symbol of the American dream, and the Rocky franchise remains one of the most beloved and enduring sports movie franchises of all time, inspiring generations of moviegoers and athletes alike.
