Jaws (Universal, 1975), Joe Alves Original Technical Sketch for "Bruce the Shark". Original graphite technical sketch on 54" x 41.5" artist's vellum depicting a full side angle of the iconic shark along with front angles for different segments of the beast from head to tail fin, accompanied by technical specifications including station markings, water line notations, and a drawing scale reference, on original Universal City Studios production leaf with handwritten names including "Spielberg" and "Alves" and handwritten date "12-7-73". The production designer Joe Alves was meticulous in his drawings for the shark, lovingly named Bruce, understanding the massive undertaking needed to construct a 25-foot mechanical shark alongside mechanical effects head Bob Mattey. The shark was designed with the intention of operating in the Atlantic Ocean, specifically off the coast of Martha's Vineyard as the shallow ocean floor would allow the mechanical shark to rest filming. Exhibits production age and handling, including original folds, edge creases, corner bumps, and small tears to edges. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
