The War of the Worlds (Paramount, 1953), Revised Final Draft Screenplay. Vintage original 120-page (as paginated) studio-bound and bradded screenplay draft for The War of the Worlds by Barré Lyndon. Dated January 11, 1952 and labeled "REVISED FINAL WHITE" on the inside cover page, with blue marbled unmarked studio wraps and typed production code "P.11489" on the internal delivery page stamped "128". With cast page including Gene Barry as Clayton Forrester, indicating proximity of this draft to the start of production. Lyndon's screenplay is an adaptation of the 1898 novel by H.G. Wells of the same name, with the setting relocated to Southern California. The film was released stateside on August 13, 1953, going on to win the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects and attaining widespread recognition as one of the most influential and important science fiction films of all time. Exhibits expected signs of handling and age, including foxing, faint crease lines to interior upper corners, and mild edgewear. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
