Description
Kiss 1973 Very Early Handbill - Hotel Diplomat, New York City. An original yellow-paper concert flyer advertising "A Rock & Roll Ball" at the Hotel Diplomat in New York City on Friday, July 13, 1973 featuring the Brats, KISS before they had a record deal, and Planets, all for just three dollars. KISS, without a manager or booking agent yet, booked the Diplomat themselves for some of their earliest New York dates well before the release of their self-titled first album in February 1974. Measures 8 ½" x 11" and grades to Near Mint Minus condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.More Information: The Hotel Diplomat had presented jazz greats in the 60's such as Miles Davis, heavy metal with Detroit's MC5 in the late 60's and glam with the New York Dolls in 1972, among countless other acts.
Rick Rivets founded a band which became the New York Dolls after he departed, and then he formed the Brats this year, which probably accounts for their headlining status at the Diplomat. KISS opened for the Brats several times in this seminal period of theirs.
Condition details: Very light handling wear, with light edge wear and creasing in the bottom right corner, as well as light creasing in the upper left corner.
