RIGHT ABOUT WHEN THE BOY BECAME THE KING

B.B. King 1964 "Blues Boy" Denver, CO Boxing-Style Concert Poster. An original cardboard window card advertising blues legend B.B. King performing at the Casino Ballroom in the mile-high city on Monday night, December 7, 1964. An especially dramatic and charismatic concert poster for The King of the Blues, with a nice early photo, musical notes floating about, catchy orange & red colors and a few song titles to boot.

This was arguably the peak year of B.B. King's career. It was the year he came out with "Rock Me Baby" and "How Blue Can You Get," two staples of his live shows. B.B. was gigging at the rate of 300 shows a year, remarkably. And in the month before this Denver show, his Chicago concert was recorded and released as B.B. King Live at the Regal, which is often cited as one of the best live albums ever released.

This first-ever Heritage offering measures 14" x 22" and grades to restored Very Good condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: The Casino Ballroom entertainment complex still stands and flourishes to this day, known now as the Cevantes Masterpiece Ballroom and The Other Side.

Condition details: The board has had repair work done by Chameleon Restoration in the white areas around all four margins, with some but much less needed inside the orange artwork block. Touching up inside "B.B. King" is the best example. A bit of damage to the black lettering down in the lower margin, both left and right, such as in "Direction," "Printed," "Chicago" and "Ill." Some scuffing present to B.B.'s sports jacket. Verso has a water stain down at the bottom, whose affects were neutralized on the poster's front (not visible).
