Description

Bill Haley & His Comets, The Platters, Bo Diddley 1956 "Biggest Rock 'n' Roll Show" Handbill. An original paper advertising flyer from the dawn of rock 'n' roll advertising Bill Haley and His Comets, the Platters, Bo Diddley, Frankie Lymon & the Teenagers, the Drifters, Big Joe Turner, LaVern Baker, Clyde McPhatter and several others appearing for two shows at the Syria Mosque in Pittsburgh, PA on Thursday evening, May 3, 1956. No fewer than eight members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame were part of this touring revue. We just love the artistic layout of this piece. Measures 6" x 9" and grades to Near Mint condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: It's a super-splashy, dynamic concert handbill filled with familiar names, pictures, world-beating song titles ("Rock Around the Clock," "The Great Pretender," "Why Do Fools Fall in Love"), eye-catching colors and, of course, terrific rarity. Ninety-nine percent of concert posters and handbills of this vintage were thrown away after the show or lost in subsequent years, leaving just a precious few behind for collectors to fight over.

Condition details: Only very light toning present. It's extremely uncommon to find a piece of this vintage without a single flaw, such as creases & pinholes. This is in choice condition.
