Description

R&B / SOUL

James Brown 1960 Syracuse, NY "Please, Please, Please" Globe Concert Poster. An original cardboard window card advertising the Godfather of Soul himself, James Brown, performing at the Jefferson St. Armory in "Downtown Syracuse," New York on Friday night, June 17, 1960.

Made by the esteemed Globe Poster Co., this poster has a fun and busy venue box up top, including advance tickets sold at local restaurants and "grills." A very scarce and dynamically designed poster, as Mr. Dynamite made his transition from the 1950's to the 60's, when he would become a household name. Great red & black layout, and we love those flames. This first-ever Heritage offering measures 14" x 22 1/4" and grades to Very Good condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: Chameleon Restoration addressed a few edge and corner issues, touching up any printing or color where necessary, mending pinholes, eradicating surface blemishes and greatly reducing any creasing it might have had. The result is a terrifically satisfying piece with little or no evidence of past damage. The ink-pen writing in the venue box is considered part of the original marketing, and not damage done in the years since.
