Description

The Rolling Stones 1964 U.K. Promo Poster for "I Wanna Be Your Man" and Debut EP. An original retail-store promotional poster from Decca Records U.K. for the Rolling Stones' first EP for the label plus their "I Wanna Be Your Man" single which, of course, John Lennon and Paul McCartney gave the Stones to record. A fun, charismatic little poster that harkens back to the earliest days, featuring a charcoal-drawing sketch of the band derived from their publicity photo. The poster worked; "Man" became the group's first Top 20 hit. Measures 15 1/2" x 13" and grades to Very Good Minus condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: The poster has four obvious instances of tape residue. It was once quarter-folded down for mailing, so those factory folds remain. There is toning and grime on the front and verso, especially along the vertical crease. Fortunately, most of that grime is off the artwork (except for the vertical crease). The lower right corner has a 4 ¼" diagonal crease, but it misses any printing. The upper right corner area has a 1 ¼" vertical edge tear that was repaired with clear tape a long time ago. The poster's verso shows signs of additional horizontal creasing in the top half, which barely shows on the front.
