THE MASTER GUITARIST IN HIS LAST FEW MONTHS

Jimi Hendrix Experience 1970 Sacramento, California Cal Expo Concert Poster. An original, colorful, first-printing psychedelic concert poster promoting the Jimi Hendrix Experience playing at Cal Expo in Sacramento, California at 3:00 PM on Sunday afternoon, April 26, 1970.

This is one of the gorgeous ones... a deep, rich, sublime design of purple, orange, green, black and white with a magnificent purple horse and warrior being attacked by a serpent as the central image. Printed on thin, glossy paper, this poster damages very easily and yet we have one in outstanding condition here, which is very difficult to find.

This was the second date of Jimi's final, Cry of Love tour, which ran from April to September of '70 and would conclude with the last show of his life in Fehmarn, Germany. Jimi was playing with Billy Cox on bass and original Experience drummer Mitch Mitchell on skins by this time, with the poster giving their names up top. It also tells attendees to "Bring a Picnic Lunch, a Blanket & a Smile." Measures 9 3/4" x 28" and grades to Near Mint Minus condition. From the David Swartz Concert Poster Collection. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: The glossy poster just has the expected light surface creasing from handling throughout the years, visible only when the poster is held at an angle to the light. There's also a pair of tiny edge stains on the extreme upper right, which are noticeable only if you're scouring for imperfections.
