WE BET YOU'VE NEVER SEEN THIS ONE BEFORE

Led Zeppelin, Blind Faith (Eric Clapton) 1969 Midwest Rock Festival Concert Poster. A nice, large, terrifically scarce original large paper concert poster advertising the Midwest Rock Festival taking place in West Allis, Wisconsin (six miles west of Milwaukee, essentially a suburb) over the weekend of July 25-27, 1969. This oversized poster (just under two feet by three feet) features unusual but peaceful colors of pink, purple and white.

The big headliner of the weekend, as seen up top, was the new supergroup Blind Faith, whose members are named individually on the poster. However, and this is a big however, none other than Led Zeppelin joined the proceedings after this poster was printed, necessitating a new, tall & thin poster featuring both big British groups to be designed. Heritage has sold that more-common poster before, but certainly not this early one... in fact, some heavy collectors we consulted had never even heard of it. This poster was excitingly consigned by a Wisconsin family who lived in the state back then and lives there still.

Zeppelin headlined Friday night, Blind Faith on Saturday night and Jeff Beck was scheduled to headline Sunday night, but did not perform. This first-ever Heritage offering measures 23" x 35" and grades to Very Good Plus condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: According to LedZeppelin.com, the band's set list consisted of "Train Kept a-Rollin'," "I Can't Quit You Baby," "Dazed and Confused," "White Summer/Black Mountainside," "You Shook Me," "How Many More Times" (medley with "Lemon Song") and "Communication Breakdown."

Condition details: Chameleon Restoration addressed a few edge and corner issues, mending pinholes, eradicating surface blemishes and greatly reducing any creasing it might have had. The result is a terrifically satisfying piece with little or no evidence of past edge damage. There is just light general toning throughout the poster. We should also point out that, quite curiously, there are little small circles very lightly drawn before the name of 11 of the musicians, including Blind Faith. We can only surmise that perhaps the original poster owner made those marks as he witnessed the bands, or checked off the ones he saw after getting back home, or made a circle by his favorite acts of the day... or any of sundry other possibilities. We'll never know.
