Voice of America was the official broadcasst institution of the United States federal government. Voice of America was the official broadcasst institution of the United States federal government. Providing a wide range of programming for broadcast on radio and TV and the Internet outside of the U.S. in 43 languages to an estimated global audience of 123 million people, "to promote freedom and democracy and to enhance understanding through multimedia communication of accurate, objective, and balanced news, information and other programming about America and the world to audiences overseas." These knobs were among the featured artifacts on exhibit at The National Museum of Communications which first started in Dallas and later relocated to nearby Irving, Texas. The museum was a fascinating walk into the past in the evolution of technology for communications.
