Dawn of the Dead VHS 1986 - CGC Home Video 9.0 and Seal A++, Slipcase, RTB Seal, Bottom UPC Sticker, Front Vertical White HBO Cannon Video Watermarks, The Motor City Collection, HBO Cannon Video. The original Dawn of the Dead from 1978 is a landmark in zombie cinema, directed by George A. Romero. The film follows a group of survivors as they take refuge in a shopping mall during the zombie apocalypse, leading to a pulse-pounding battle for survival against both the undead and each other. Upon its release, Dawn of the Dead was met with both critical acclaim and a passionate fanbase. Fans lauded its social commentary, innovative special effects, and unrelenting tension, cementing it as a classic of the horror genre that continues to be celebrated by fans of all generations.

This factory sealed VHS copy of Dawn of the Dead with front white HBO Cannon Video watermarks is believed to be the second release of the film after the original Thorn EMI clamshell release. It is unknown if a factory sealed copy of the first release of Dawn of the Dead still exists today. Thorn EMI became HBO Cannon Video in 1986 when Cannon Films purchased Thorn EMI. HBO would go on to buy out Cannon and was renamed HBO Video 1987. So these HBO Cannon Video titles were only produced in 1986/1987. This copy It comes to us as part of The Motor City Collection, CGC Home Video's first Pedigree. The Motor City Collection is especially remarkable due to the fact that original purchaser would typically write the date that the item was purchased on the price tag, sometimes along with the store name or the street that the store was located on. Based on the handwritten notes on the price tag, this tape was originally purchased on 6-3-87 at a K-Mart location in Michigan. It has received a grade of 9.0 by CGC, with a perfect Seal grade of A++.

The Motor City Collection is CGC Home Video's first VHS pedigree. The gentleman who originally assembled this unbelievable collection had purchased items as far back as the 1970s beginning with vinyl records. He would typically go out of his way to write the date of purchase on the price tags, as well as other identifiable info like a city, street, or store name. His collection was unknown to even his family until his passing. The majority of the items he'd purchased remained unopened in their original factory shrink wrap.
