Description

Star Wars Csillagok Háborúja Darth Vader CAS 65 Loose (unknown, 1989). A figure of myth among Eastern European collectors, this Csillagok Háborúja Darth Vader represents one of the rarest and most striking entries in Hungary's late-1980s bootleg line. Produced as a low-cost alternative to imported Kenner figures, it retains the imposing silhouette of the Dark Lord while reflecting the improvised production methods of its era-stark sculpting, thick black plastics, and hand-applied silver chest detailing. Hungarian examples of Vader are particularly elusive, with only a handful confirmed, making each surviving piece an artifact of Cold War-era fandom and limited-market creativity. Graded CAS 65, with a true numerical score of 67.3, this example is encased in an acrylic display with its red lightsaber mounted separately to the left of the figure. The arrangement accentuates the dark, minimalist sculpt and the pop of crimson beside it, heightening the dramatic contrast that defines Vader's presence even in this locally produced form. The display's balance allows the figure's stoic posture and heavy cape to command full attention. Though born from a line of modest means, Hungary's Darth Vader carries all the menace and mystery of the galaxy's most iconic villain. For collectors drawn to the intersection of rarity and rebellion, this figure stands as a symbol of how even in the smallest toy shops, the shadow of the Empire loomed large.
