Description

Star Wars PBP YPS Snowtrooper CAS 75+ & Luke Skywalker (X-Wing Pilot) CAS 80+ Loose (PBP, 1980s). Produced in Spain during the PBP era, these figures represent one of the most intriguing intersections between regional licensing and collector lore. The YPS Hoth Snowtrooper, distributed in Germany through the YPS comic magazine, has become famous for its inclusion of a non-standard weapon-the SA80 rifle borrowed from the Action Force line. Paired here with Luke Skywalker in his X-Wing Pilot uniform, the combination captures both the global reach and curious ingenuity that characterized the European Star Wars production story. Luke Skywalker (X-Wing Pilot) is graded CAS 80+ with a true grade of 83.6, while the YPS Hoth Snowtrooper is graded CAS 75+ with a true grade of 78.9. Although CAS labeled the figures as 1977 and 1980 releases due to their mold date stamps, Poch and later PBP production did not begin until approximately 1981. The Snowtrooper features a hard ABS torso, a hallmark of PBP construction, and carries the SA80 rifle, a rare inclusion originating from Palitoy's G.I. Joe Action Force line. According to variant documentation, these weapons were substituted when Imperial Hoth rifles ran short, with some Snowtroopers packaged in YPS issue #510 alongside the alternate accessory. The PBP YPS Snowtrooper remains one of the most distinctive regional oddities in Star Wars collecting, bridging the worlds of two major toy lines while showcasing the creative adaptations of European distributors. Together with Luke Skywalker (X-Wing Pilot), this pairing embodies the inventiveness, rarity, and global charm that continue to make PBP figures a cornerstone of serious variant collections.
