Description
The Greatest Show on Earth (Paramount, 1952), Associate Producer Henry Wilcoxon's Casting Book, Production Bible, and Shooting Script. Vintage group of (3) production materials highlighting the process of making DeMille's Academy Award-winning film including (1) leather casting book measuring 7" x 9" and belonging to star and associate producer Henry Wilcoxon featuring both his and DeMille's personal notes, (1) leather-bound production journal measuring 9.25" x 11.25" and featuring 142 pages of treatments, highlights, and construction information with personal notes from Wilcoxon, and (1) leather-bound copy of the producer's complete shooting script measuring 8.25" x 11.5" and consisting of 199 pages (plus cast and script continuity pages) featuring all the changes and additional dialogue written in Wilcoxon's hand. These key pieces of production ephemera give unique insight into the creative process of DeMille and his team. Contents exhibit production wear and toning. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.More Information: Dated December 22, 1950 and numbering 208 pages in total, the exhaustive hand-typed screenplay features the complete working script used on location in Sarasota Florida. The contents include all the changes, additional dialogue, and production notes written in Wilcoxon's hand. In addition to the continuity breakdown and character list, it features a complete record of all the circus acts performed in the film. When Wilcoxon had to replace the actor originally cast as FBI Agent Gregory, he rewrote a portion of the dialogue – which is hand written on the reverse of the pages opposite his scenes (example on page 193).
