The Road to Yesterday (DeMille Pictures Corporation,1925), Anton Grot Group of (4) Concept Artworks. Vintage group of (4) concept artworks by Anton Grot rendered in charcoal on art paper measuring from 21.25" x 16.5" to 23.5" x 17" including (1) "Palace Courtyard" concept sketch signed by the artist, (1) "Palace - Establishing" concept sketch signed by the artist and containing production stamp, (1) "Palace Swordplay" signed by the artist and containing production stamp, and (1) "Modern Bedroom Interior" signed by the artist and containing production stamp. Art director Anton Grot created several elegant concept sketches for DeMille's first independent film. The talented artist shared art direction duties on the film along with French illustrator Paul Iribe and future film director Mitchell Leisen. Grot's picturesque "Palace - Establishing" sketch from The Road to Yesterday is showcased in the comprehensive book Cecil B. DeMille: The Art of the Hollywood Epic. Artworks exhibit production wear, pin holes, creasing, edge wear, and corner tearing. Edge tearing, and vestiges of previous framing (including old tape and tape residue). "Modern Bedroom Interior" has a vertical crease tear that marks the entire far left of sketch. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
