Description
Kurt Russell's Hero Photo Matched Signature "Wyatt Earp" Colt .45 Buntline Special from Tombstone.
Tombstone (Cinergi, 1993), Kurt Russell "Wyatt
Earp" Hero Photo-Matched Inscribed Colt Buntline Special Single
Action Revolver. This is the iconic hero live-fire Colt
Buntline Special revolver used by Kurt Russell in the movie
Tombstone (1993). Serial no. SA7202 [frame], .45 caliber,
10-inch barrel with fixed front blade sight and frame-notch rear
sight. Blued finish. Case-hardened frame and hammer. Top of barrel
marked: COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A. Left side of
barrel roll-stamped: COLT BUNTLINE SPECIAL .45. Two-line, two-date
patent to left side of frame. CAT. 5565 stamped just below barrel,
in the front of the frame. Smooth walnut one-piece grip. Inscribed
brass badge to right panel reads: TO / WYATT / EARP / PEACEMAKER /
FROM THE GRATEFUL / PEOPLE OF DODGE CITY / APR. 1878 8TH. This is
one of only three hero Wyatt Earp Colt .45 Buntline Specials used
in Tombstone; reportedly Kurt Russell kept one, and director
George Cosmatos (now deceased) kept the other. The unique swirled
color patterns of the color case hardening on the revolver
photo-matches an image of Russell taken on the set of the film. The
owner acquired this revolver 15 years ago from a member of the film
production and it has never been on public display or placed at
auction. Condition: Very good. Retaining approximately 90-94%
finish with some thinning to relief edges, handling wear and very
fine spots of pitting. Vibrant case colors remaining. Scattered
scuffs and dings present to wood. Action functions, but needs
adjustment. Moderately pitted bore. Special shipping
arrangements via a federal firearms licensed dealer will apply.
Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
