Description
Harlem Nights (Paramount, 1989), Original Poster Concept Art by Drew Struzan. In Harlem Nights, Richard Pryor gives a measured late-career performance as "Sugar" Ray, showing a quieter side of his talent. His dynamic with Eddie Murphy (as Vernest "Quick" Brown) highlights the contrast between two generations of comedy. This concept artwork by Drew Struzan differs from the movie one-sheet poster in showing much more of Pryor and Murphy's bodies. It was later released as a commercially available poster. Mixed media on paper mounted to board. Measures 20" x 30", with the illustration itself approximately 18" x 28". Signed and dated at the bottom right, and with Struzan's artists stamp and "Harlem Nights" written in black marker on verso . There are what appear to be two small moisture spots at left, but otherwise the piece is in excellent condition. The poster image is for reference only and is not included with this lot. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.Auction Info
