Discovery Space Helmet, Life Support Backpack and Chest Pack from 2010: The Year We Make Contact (MGM, 1984). Vintage original (3) piece ensemble, including (1) fiberglass astronaut helmet with set screws on each side of the neck for fastening to a suit with applied "United States Astronautical Agency - Discovery" decal, (1) life support backpack with dials, vents, and external hose and nylon belt with metal buckle, (1) chest pack with switch, gauges, external grip handle with button and nylon belt with metal clip. Constructed from mixed media components of metal, fiberglass resin and plastic. The helmet measures 13" x 15" x 11.5", the backpack measures 22.5" x 18" x 7.5" and the chest pack measures 15.5" x 10.5" x 4.75". Exhibiting age, paint chipping and production use.
