Description
Star Trek: The Next Generation (Paramount TV, 1987-1994), Brent Spiner "Lt. Commander Data" Pair of Profile Positronic Brain Headpiece. Original pair of screen-used positronic brain, hair and headpieces crafted from fiberglass, netted hair, extensive wiring and lighting array and extended circuit wiring made by legendary makeup artist Michael Westmore and his son Michael Jr. These pieces reveal the inner workings of Data's (Brent Spiner) sophisticated inner workings which evolved as the series went on, and, according to the artist, "enhanced the illusion that Data was a real android". Westmore personally handled Brent Spiner's makeup throughout the series and collaborated with his son to design these fiberglass and resin pieces. They were created to reveal the inner workings of the beloved android, showing "mini green lights that ran in sequence as if blood was pulsing through his veins, but with Data, it was pulsating electricity." The piece with hair measures approx. 7" x 6" with 44" of attached wiring and 10-pin circuit plug, and can be seen in Season 6, Episode 8 "Fistful of Datas," when Geordi La Forge (LeVar Burton) plugs the android into the ship's computer. The other piece is of Data's left side profile, with wires adhered to a rounded plastic board with gold tape, exposed wiring, and attached cord measuring approx. 42" long with 6-pin plug was likely designed and used throughout the series and used as needed. Both pieces are held to a foam half-face mannequin head form measuring approx. 11" x 8.5" x 3" held in place with a pin, with cords stored in a hollow neckpiece on the rear side. Exhibits production wear and age, with some fading to the circuitry. Electronics untested. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
