Braveheart (Paramount, 1995), Scottish Highlander Hero Single-Handed Sword. Original single-handed hero sword as used by Scottish Highlander soldiers in the 1995 epic war film, Braveheart, constructed of steel and wood, with steel blade, cross-guard, and pommel and a carved wooden handle, all studio-distressed to appear heavily worn, and with intricate carved detail on the pommel, consistent with other swords used in production of the film. These types of swords were carried by Scottish soldiers led by William Wallace (Mel Gibson) in their pursuit for freedom from the British, and a sword crafted of steel such as this one would have been used for close-up shots during key scenes. Measuring 38" x 10" and exhibiting expected signs of production use including scuffs to the cross-guard and pommel, intentional distressing as mentioned, and some glue residue where the handle and cross-guards are connected.
