Vintage original group of (5) items related to Ringo Starr's role in The Magic Christian and his long-lasting friendship with screenwriter Terry Southern, including (1) 24" x 15.5" black-and-white photo enlargement from a copy negative, flush-mounted on four-ply artist's board, showing all four Beatles, George Harrison, Paul McCartney, Terry Southern, John Lennon, and Ringo Starr-all standing together, with Southern wearing a peace emblem necklace gifted to him by the Beatles-inscribed by Ringo, "Peace and love, Ringo", (1) magic marker drawing of Terry Southern in a green suit by Ringo Starr on 8.25" x 6" The Magic Christian stationery glued to cardboard, inscribed, "To Big T / Happy Birthday! / Love From / Jason Zak Maureen Richy / and / Ringo," (1) 4.25" x 3.25" Polaroid photograph showing Ringo Starr in sunglasses, a curly blonde wig, pink dress, and mismatched shoes, standing beside his wife Maureen Starkey wearing cat ears, with an inscription on the verso reading, "Room 292 / Richy [Ringo] and Maureen / invite / Terry, Gail and Nile / to a / small intimate cocktail party / dress optional / good music / sparkling conversation / 7 o'clock for 7 o'clock," (1) letter to Nile Southern on Ringo Starr-themed paper styled after his Yellow Submarine avatar, in which Terry Southern writes, "Dear Nile... I gave Ringo some of this paper you / sent, and he was plenty please[d] / because it isn't available here yet. / Love Love Love / Daddy / Plus Birthday card which Ring [sic.] / made for me. Thought you / might like to have it," and (1) typed letter from Terry Southern to Nile on an 11.75" x 8.25" sheet of shiny gold The Magic Christian stationery, where he shares updates from the production, writing, "The movie is going well but is taking more time than I thought / it would. Ringo is fine and sends his best wishes. The other Beattles [sic] (John, Paul / and George) came to the studio the other day to visit Ringo and we / took some pictures, which I hope you like. Now here is some darn good news - we are going to shoot a couple / of scenes in New York about the end of the month, so Ringo will be / there and you can meet him. Isn't that good??" All paper items show expected signs of age, including bumped corners, edge wear, creasing, wrinkles, fading, and surface wear; the photograph has adhesive residue on the back, and the Ringo-drawn stationery has a two-inch tear at the bottom.
