Yardbirds w/Eric Clapton, Animals 1964 Ricky-Tick Guildford, U.K. Concert Poster. An original pink-paper U.K. advertising poster for the Animals (with Eric Burdon) playing on Friday night, January 10, 1964, followed by blues great Sonny Boy Williamson over from Chicago playing the following Friday night, January 17. Opening act on the 17th was no less than The Yardbirds, in their first incarnation with Eric Clapton on guitar. This primitive-looking poster was the image often used by the Ricky-Tick club in Guildford, about 40 miles southwest of London. The pink & black colors really work, and the blues-hollering man would make anybody sit up and take notice. Like all of our posters, a total original made before the show, and a first-time Heritage offering. Measures 30" x 20" and grades to Very Good condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: The four corners have been expertly touched up to eliminate any pinholes or tears. The poster was once folded in half vertically, but the crease breaks none of the black lettering and is visible in the pink mostly down below the "Y" in "Yardbirds." Otherwise just general surface handling throughout, including a lightly crumpled lower left corner. There are stray, random black-ink markings in the bottom center margin, at the top above "Tick" and on the verso which are just printer's anomalies, not considered damage.
